A beautiful dark brown stone and one of the hardest stones for sculpting, with high iron content, is very hard and firm and polishes to a high shine because of its density. Sculptors will describe the feeling of their tool spring off of the stone, hence the name springstone. There are few mines where this stone is found but Guruve in the North is where springstone is mined by hand. Springstone has a hardness of 6.0-8.0 on the Mohs hardness scale.
